Four lads from Merseyside make up the ‘The Real Kicks’. Although not knowing their destiny at the time whilst crossing paths in the school corridors, band members Shaun Lewis, and Steve Kirwan would later go on to form the blueprint of The Real Kicks with the formation of an earlier band, known as ‘The Void’. Gaining experience and recognition as a prominent young band, ‘The Void’, which started in 2002 were playing many small local venues in and around the north-west creating a small and loyal fanbase, with a gig at London’s Borderline with ‘Smaller’ (now The Sums) as one of the most memorable nights.
By 2004 the band had decided that a change of name was needed, from the ‘Void’ to ‘Kicks’ before settling on ‘The Real Kicks’.
Subsequent headline gigs soon followed @ the 100 Club (London), Carling Academy (Liverpool), Borderline (London), Barfly (Loft, Liverpool), Roadhouse (Manchester), Dublin Castle (Camden,London), Bakers Vaults (Stockport), Korova (Liverpool). As well as main support for acts including The Alarm, Brian James (The Damned) along with the Strummerville charity event in 2006, and the most recent aftershow performance at the Korova (for The View).
With the songs being inspired as much by society as by art, literature and other music it is highly unlikely that the natural process of songwriting The Real Kicks posesses will be drying up anytime in the near future.
An ever increasing fanbase to couple with the power and passion of the live performances makes for the future of the five lads a very promising prospect…..much love to all. FUCK APATHY! ~The Real Kicks

” The Real Kicks are very energetic live. The lead singer could be the new Bobby Gillespie and the drummer was just superb! One of the best unsigned acts around!”
Bonehead,ex-Oasis guitarist.
“After a few beers the band took to the stage with their trademark swaggers and a presence that demands attention. But don’t be fooled into thinking they’re just another Oasis/Indie rip off band, their songs distance them from being categorised and have a unique raw punchy edge to them. From the onset the Kicks drew in the crowd and captured their attention with apparant ease, their passion for the music is clear.
The lyrics aren’t the same shit we’ve heard over an over, but are refreshingly original, I especially love the lyrics to “English Rain” (listen to them on this page) But check out Karma Queen and “make the most of being unemployed” If you get a chance, go and see them on the small stage, they won’t be there for long…”
